Hi there. Yes, my middle name really is “Lord”. My parents recognized that I might develop a big head over this, so they gave me the dorky first name “Andrew”. I got a big head anyway.

I began drawing at age 4, compulsively trying to reproduce the dinosaurs that filled my books. The habit continued throughout primary school as a way of staving off boredom in class. In lieu of a formal art education, I just studied whatever took my fancy, and reproduced or reinterpreted it to suit my desires.

I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and from Johns Hopkins University with a Master of Arts in Science Writing. Between the two, I gained a thorough appreciation for the way seemingly insignificant details influence the big picture, and how to remember the big picture while knee-deep in details.

When away from my drafting table, I enjoy a lot of games — board, card, video, and roleplaying are my preferred categories — as well as a broad spectrum of literature and film.

I live with my wife and two children.
